To replace a dysfunctional kitchen with an interesting and enjoyable workspace.
A sustainable 1970s-90s retro-futuristic kitchen. Recycled materials included: plywood, 10mm thick perspex, sink, timber venetian blinds (around curves) and taps.
The refrigerator was moved out of the existing dysfunctional kitchen and recessed into an adjoining space. A restful workspace with simple 'u' shape resulted.
The kitchen was designed and constructed by the architect as a handcrafted object, in contrast to the standardisation of most contemporary kitchens.
