A Grandmother's flat at the roof of a house in Stanmore, with a roof terrace for the existing house upstairs.

The challenge was to design a flat to accommodate the needs of an extended family. The flat had to have the right degree of attachment and separation from the house.
The resulting flat sits comfortably in the garden providing privacy for those inside and out, and a sunny northern outlook. The opportunity arose for a new north facing roof terrace (over the new flat adjacent to the dining room upstairs) which is nestled under a large tree.
