A new home for the Sydney Conservatorium of Music at Rozelle Hospital
This wonderful site allowed for the formation of an art precinct, as the proposed site for the conservatorium was adjacent to the new Sydney College of the Arts campus in the heritage buildings of Kirkbride. The relationship between music and architecture was explored.
An architectural concept was formed on the duality of emotional intuition and rational structure.
Music and architecture both share this duality. The curved sensual circulation spine (and service wall) was the intuitive emotive thread that followed the contours of the site. This wall linked the rational grids of the accommodation.
