Apartment in Darlinghurst

Project

The interior design project involves redesigning a small studio apartment in Darlinghurst.

A small single space for living, sleeping, cooking, studying and entertaining needs to be well designed to accommodate the residents from day to day as well as accommodating guests with out compromising privacy. This was achieved by creating a bedroom enclosure out of joinery that can be open or closed.

The rest of the functions are all accommodated in a single elegant wall joinery unit. This unit includes a built in kitchen and office as well as lots of storage. Modular design and careful integration of appliances, storage and lighting creates extra space and frees up the other half of the room for lounge seating. The new screen enclosures are reinterpreted Japanese screens with laser cut perforations for screened dappled light and views. An existing chaotic and unattractive apartment (refer to 'before' photos) will become a calm, elegant, cosy and functional space.
